THEN
From: Indianapolis, Indiana
Internship: Teacher's Assistant at Jagna Special Center
Location: Bohol, Philippines
When: July 2003
The Experience: I participated in the Intercross Culture Tour with Deaf Filipinos, getting to know the culture, language and physical geography for the first two weeks. During the third and fourth week, I worked with the students in the classroom and planned different subjects such as English, Writing, Drawing and Science. I taught English and Science to the fourth graders. I taught drawing and science to the third through sixth graders. I slept in the dorms with the students for two weeks. I interacted with them and was a "houseparent."
