THEN
From: Frederick, Maryland
Internship: Teacher's Assistant at the Maryland school for the Deaf.
Location: Frederick, Maryland
When: November 2003-May 2004
The Experience:
My duty was to assist teachers with the students. At center time, I worked -on-one with a language-delayed student. I focused on his vocabulary, reading and math skills until he was able to figure it out by himself. The experience was great because I learned more about what to do with students with special needs.
NOW
What are you doing now: taking time off, working, and/or going to school? I am being a housewife and a mother of two boys. I plan to go to graduate school sometime soon.
Do you enjoy working and/or going to school? I enjoy being a housewife and being a mother to my two boys.
Do you think your FCS major or your internship benefits you now? Yes! I know what activities I can provide for my kids and what they should eat.
What is your advice for future FCS majors/minors? Learn as much as you can. The information you receive from your FCS teachers are valuable!
